& Consulting

I provide scalable operations and sales solutions for my vineyard clients, investors and owners. I help owners define their objectives regarding the business, the wines, goals to be achieved and evaluate the investment necessary to accomplish them in the most effective manner. I can intervene in a consulting capacity, act as vineyard manager in a temporary or an on-going consulting capacity or, where needed, find the appropriate staff for the long-term.

My experience in various vineyard areas of France and my extensive network has given me the tools necessary to help prospective buyers identify a vineyard, evaluate a purchase opportunity, and hire the skills to staff a winery project. I can provide strategic consulting and/or bring in the skill sets necessary to launch a successful project. I have conducted in-depth searches in several regions of Provence, the Roussillon, and the Loire valley.

Winery Consulting in the Anjou region

Since 2014 I have had oversight of the renaissance of a small winery in the Anjou region, strategizing and orchestrating the evolution from conventional (chemically-treated) wines to a newly-created range of artisanal, organic wines based on the unique terroirs of our corner of the Loire.

I initially had the investors’ mandate to hire the team and define the direction for the domaine. In the years since we have put into place a strategic plan with minimum budget, creating a new range of exciting wines for two different markets.

Of the vineyard’s 15ha in total, 7ha of the best vines are now in the 3rd year of organic conversion and the project is an ongoing passion. Our first vintage, 2015, was outstanding and showed the potential the vineyard holds for both dry and sweet (layon) Chenin blanc wines. Subsequent vintages have proven our assumptions.

Historic Winery in Saumur

I was initially engaged by the owner to create and set into motion a strategic plan to improve the vineyard, its wines and its image. Identifying key problem areas as well as proposed solutions, and working with the owner and the vineyard team (administrative, vineyard and winemaking), in the first year our key objectives were met: a new head winemaker was identified and hired, soil studies were employed to help segment and better focus the winemaking. The range of wines was re-thought, pricing analyzed, existing markets re-evaluated. A mid- to long-term strategic plan was put in place to move the brand image up-scale in all of its markets, accompanying improvements in the wines.

I went to Daniel’s WSET level 2 class in 2015. During the training, he impressed me with his knowledge of wine tasting and his passion of terroir. He is very pedagogue and explained the techniques of fabricating fine wines very well. He owns and runs a vineyard in the region of Loire Valley. Due to the confidence in his expertise in terroir and winemaking, of course accumulated through the training program, I personally invited him to do a technique audit of a vineyard in Bordeaux before I decided to purchase it with my husband.
